mess upDo You Mess up?

I’ve got a confession to make.  For the last couple of months I’ve let my weight creep back and have gained an extra ten pounds.  As much as I’d like to be perfect, the truth is I still don’t always have it all together.  I’m sure you’ve experienced this at one time as well.  Maybe there are areas of your life that look a lot like this room…all messed up!  Since I think we’re all in the same boat in different areas of our lives, here are a couple of ideas that helped me this week in getting back on track!

1.  Don’t Take Yourself So Seriously

My wife Lisa reminded me that life is a process.  The good news is that I am farther along in my health journey than I was even a year ago.  The fact that I run 2-3 miles a couple times a week confirms this!  You can’t be perfect all the time so allow yourself to be human.  Enjoy the improvement process and don’t get so focused on the goal that you miss the fun along the way.

2.  Get Support

This past week I met with my nutrition coach Rachel Jackson from Performance QSA.  The funny thing is she didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know but it was the act of becoming transparent and sharing a weakness that created a renewed sense of motivation for me.  Transparency is so powerful because it allows others to see the areas of your life that you might not have all together in and it’s through this process you receive freedom from the things that are holding you back.  If you allow the light of truth to shine into the hidden areas you’ll get a new level of freedom.  Change is a team sport so when you blow it, get some help!
